I see many people keep kingcobra's and feed them mainly rats. So I'm really interested if they digest a rat easily and do not build up hair inside. I'm getting some adult kings (Also arranged true John light, cheers bro!)

But still having doubts if I not better keep them feeding on snakes which is really expensive but natural food, or does it not matter to feed them rats at all. especially as I want to breed them as well. As breeding is the main goal of all kept species in the collection.

cheers

I figured I'd upload some pictures of my King eating. I got this girl from John Light and she came in an incredible shape. Thanks John! Somewhere I had heard that they only eat smooth scaled snakes, but here is proof otherwise. I guess she has affinity for Texas Rattlesnakes.

Hi all,

I have a male Chinese banded king cobra,

any tips on getting it feeding properly.

Sometimes he eats frozen thawed snakes but not always. Otherwise I just forcefeed him pinks.

How many pinks should I feed at a time?

JUst a general husbandry question, whats the recommended temperature and humidity?

Thanks in advance,

Rowan

The king

I have had a king cobra for a while now but I have never seen him eat. I have fed him cornsnakes several times and then I have been waiting outside his terrarium for him to start eating, but unfortunately I have never seen it.

But then last night he was extra active so I threw in a cornsnake and it took no more than about 15 minutes before he started to eat it . It was difficult to get close to him, but here are some pictures anyway

Hi guys,

A friend of mine keeps a 170 cm long female Malayan king. He has her bougth as captive bred and grew it from worm size to 170 cm. Still feeding it snakes as many snakekeepers in Europe expierienced that Baby Kings that are fed mice often die and espcially around the 2 meter point.

Anyone an explenaition for this?

The head question is that this Queens eats great every snakes but refushes to eat Bloodpythons. Does anyone know a reason for this?

Regards

On tuesday 8th December 09 I picked up a fresh wild-caught Malaysian King Cobra, which had very recently arrived in the country on a shipment from Kuala Lumpur, Peninsular Malaysia. Upon getting it back to mine, it was given a warm soak for around an hour. On the advice of another King Cobra keeper, the snake was treated with frontline straight away and given its first dosage of Metronidazole (Flagyl). The treatment of Metronidazole will continue every 2 weeks for another 4 treatments before ...

Hi all,

As you can see from the below pictures, the king is doing well – he’s now feeding on pinkies with a very small piece of corn snake attached. The picture of the pinkie, has the largest piece attached - he will actually take a pink with a very small piece of skin on the nose.

Some of you know, this guy was given to me by a friend, he is one of only two hatched out in the UK, he was born with one or two lumps on his back -so far, he seems to be okay and there has been no problems with ...

Hi,

I want to know something about King Cobra natural preys:

King Cobra eat other snakes like ratsnakes, young pythons and others species of cobras (Naja sp.) and it's immune against the other cobras venom...

So, my questions is:

-- Some one know or hear about if King Cobra eat Russell's Viper or Malayan Pitviper in nature ??

-- They are immune against the Viperidae venom ??

Thanks!
