It's a travelogue, covering my time in the forests of Cameroon looking for the elusive gaboon and speaking with conservationists, farmers, hunters, witchdoctors, feticheurs and a sorcerer about their knowledge of and uses for the viper. Interspersed with this quest are brief vignettes ...

I recently purchased this animal in account of its interesting colour and how it almost mimics xeropaga.

The previous owner killed the mate by force feeding and I doubt this animal will survive, but I shall do my best.

I'm not sure of the exact locality but is from Namibia.

What are your thoughts?

P.S please excuse the photo quality, I'm not much of a photographer.

Hi all.

I need some help with the identification of a dwarf Bitis species. We find it south of Lüderitz (Namibia) in the old Sperrgebiet area. You can find pics of it here: http://israelms.smugmug.com/gallery/6161019_sUPvk#555209434_ewzvn (my photography web page, look at page 2 to find the adder)

I have tried to identify it using Marais (2004), but it is not clear for me what species it is.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
