PostSubject: Naja melanoleuca subfulva   Tue 4 Aug - 2:23

Photographed at Peter Zürcher's great zoo a few days ago.
Maybe Peter will write some information to this subspecies (ev. species in some time).

It may not be a spelling mistake at all Wolfgang, perhaps our old friend from OZ has struck again and named another new subspecies?

Well, we have ladies here in this forum so I bite onto my tongue now and won't proceed with this ...

I am definitely aware that Wikipedia is full of mistakes. But usually the information there is at least as good as in other (printed) lexika, I guess. And I am not the only one, see: Very Happy

There are a obviously lot of dirty minds in herpetology Laughing

I really cannot relate to that kind of mentality Wink

Don't ever trust Wikipedia, Guenter.

and keep other things out of your mind while doing postings on snake-forums *LOL*

subfulva (latin) frum sub (=under) and fulvus (yellowish brown),
referring to the brown-yellow underside.

"subfulva" was created by LAURENT (1955) as a subspecies of melanoleuca, CHIRIO et al. (2006) regard these snakes as species (Naja subfulva).
As far as I know, further investigations are running at this time, and we'll have to wait for results.
Cheers
Peter
by the way, thanks for your work and excellent picures, waiting for more....
