Finally, 11 big eggs have arrived, this was 19 days after the females pre lay shed. She was offered a nest box but she decided to push all the substrate to one side and lay on the floor of the vivarium.

The happy couple

First egg coming out

Second egg

And a shot of 10 eggs, just before the last one was laid

cheers, Tom

Thanks Ralph,

This is the females second clutch, she laid 6 infertile eggs last year but that was not my breeding and not my male.

I put this pair together on the 30th october 2009, and they copulated regularly until i split them up around the 20th of November.

Both the male and female are around 5.5ft in length, and were CB in 2007.

cheers, Tom

Hi Niek,

Yes, the babies will only be sold to people with experience working with fast elapids. Half the clutch shall be going to a friend here in the UK, and i will be in no rush the move the rest on. Smile

Hi Tom,

congratulation, eggs are looking very good. I am sure you will hatch them without problems. Am very curious what sex ratio you will get, as we have always more females as males, even if we keep higher temperature during incubation...

Cheers,
Peter

Tom,

we use approx. the same temperature for incubation. Result of our last clutch, which hatched approx. 2 months ago was 5 males and 11 females from clutch of 16 eggs. So far it was the biggest clutch we had, and as some of you know, we had quite a few of them already during last 4-5 years Smile

Cheers,
Peter

Congratulations Tom

I find cannis are majestically, elegant and powerful, they have everything what a elapid must have. Good luck with the youngsters.
