| Hello All. Here is a picture I took of a het for albino Lower California Rattlesnake, Crotalus enyo furvis. I have one pair and bred them in fall 2009, and this female appears to be gravid. I am guessing that she may have babies around April or May of 2010. I think that this would be the first time that captive albino baby Lower California Rattlesnakes have been produced in the US, although I cannot be sure. Although I purchased them from a friend in the US, I was told that the pair came from Europe as babies. Now they are 3 to 4 years old. Lower California Rattlesnakes are small, less than 2 1/2 feet maximum. Mine eat rat pups twice per month. We keep them in our air conditioned building and give them water one day per week, and that way they do fine in humid Florida, even though they are a xeric species. All of our xeric venomous species do well kept like this. I have found that the key to success in keeping xeric species is to never have a water dish in with them constantly. |
