PostSubject: Australian Elapids   Fri 16 Apr - 9:58

What Australian Elapids have made it to the private sector? Who keeps and breeds these animals? I'm currently in search of some (have a few deals pending) but I want to know what all is out there and who I need to get ahold of to get it.

Thanks,

John Light

Some species are really dificult to find. I also search for some special snakes. You will find more answers under http://www.environment.gov.au/index.html. If you want to contact them personaly they will most accuratley know witch species you can export from Australia if you are searching for a special snake. Mail: wildlifetrade@dep.gov.au. There is a lot of possibility also with Australian breeders. They can export snakes under some minor conditions. Wildcought are more difficult to find but there are some that can be legaly exported.

I was unawear that any aussie animals were able to be legally exported unless one had an AZA permit and did so through a Zoo. I will surely look into this. Elapids are my favorite and Aussies are at the top of my list. Thank you for that information, I will surely look into it!

Hi!

"Live pet animals of certain Australian native species and CITES listed species may be imported or exported with a permit. In the case of native Australian animals the species proposed for export must be included on the List of native household pet animals."

No reptiles included in this list.

I don´t think you get any live reptiles out of australia as a hobbyist in any way legally(....), but please prove me wrong Cool
