Hi,

someone told me that these pallidas, with the dot on the head, are local forms. Maybe her is someone who can confirm that, or rebut.

Greetz,
Roland

Maby WW can this!?
Because, within the discription of Naja nubiae and seperation from pallida, he must have seen manny ,,pallida´s´´ and other Najas from the distribution area to seperate the nubiae from pallida. And when there is a typical pattern local form, I´sure he will know this. BTW: For me it is the first time that I see such a Dot on a head of an pallida... Looks interessting!

Hi don`t know WW. But I can wait for him. I don`t think that these are a local form. Sometimes anything with unusual Patterns, Colors or markings is something "special" for the bredders.

Never seen anything like that blotch. Having said that, they otherwise look like standard pallida, so my "best guess" would be that this is an individual/family aberrance, and nothing of taxonomic significance.

I agree with WW. This is more like random occurrance. It could maybe be some variety of colour or pattern mutation. Otherwise very very nice snake. I would guess that when you'll breed them and if it shows again you will know if it is genetic.

Thats intressting! It looks like, that you have an very rare color mutation. Make your snake uniqe! Or you can get an aditional one to build a couple of this. It will be very intressting, it is genetic or not! So keep us updated!

THx WW for the fast reaply!

Hi,

thanks for the Feedback.

It must be genetic. I got a couple of them. Both show this dot on the head. Anyway these snakes are not for me. Pallidas are not really on my wanted list. So I`m just keeping them till weekend.

But interesting that they really seem to be something exotic in this specimen.

Hello everybody,

I assume that these snakes were bred by Guido Westhoff, he bred Pallidas with this dot on the head several times, so if you like them just write an email to him. He sold a lot of them in the last time. They are definitely not a locality form, it is just a result of the right pair.

Best regards

Frank
