PostSubject: Physical differences between D. jamesoni jamesoni and D. viridis   Wed 21 Jul - 15:32

I was hoping someone with experience in these species could tell me how one can easily tell the difference between D. jamesoni jamesoni and D. viridis. With D. jamesoni kaimosea the black tail is a clear difference but in the case of D. jamesoni jamesoni and D. viridis it at least for me is more difficult. I would appreciate some help with this.
Thanks.

it´s very easy, looking here:

D.viridis

D. jamesoni j.

The belly of D.jamesoni j. is yellowish, the uppon body brighten green and the head is blueish. The tail is black and yellow, seeing at the pictures. D.viridis has bigger scales, everyone is framed black Wink

Hoping could helping you Rolling Eyes

Cheers

Thanks Benjamin

Those pics are stunning, but those snakes are out of this world!! You have cleared up my confusion very nicely! I assume you keep both these species?

Once again thank you very much!

The enlarged body scales of D. viridis are absolutely characteristic. In this species, they are "out of step" with the ventral scale count, unlike in any other elapid I can think of.
