| Hello Günter,
I do enjoy it! A very good photo again or let´s rather call it a picture.
Could it be that she was bored by posing for the photos?
And of course no comment necessary for Peter´s beauties.
Cheers, Rainer |

| Yes, Rainer, yawning of course. But for me a great moment - my possibilities with Crotalus are of course limited, because I can't keep venomous until my kids get a bit older |

| What a gorgeous photo!! Very stunning and could only be better if the rest of the mouth was in focus- in my opinion at least. but still amazing...and lucky shot to catch, though I supposed it's only a matter of time if you wait long enough hehe What camera and settings are you using? I probably wont understand half of your answer to that as i am still shooting with a decent point and shoot and have yet to acquire a DSLR but it is definitely high on my want list! |

| I use a Canon 5D II and here the lens was a Sigma 150/2.8 macro. Maybe due to the minimization the mouth may not be perfectly crisp but except maybe the fang everything which is relevant is in focus here on my screen. Naja pallida, taken with a fisheye lens from a short distance. It was a bit difficult so the result does not fully satisfy me: |

| It's a pleasure for me, thanks Graeme! I am not sure about the species, Thamnophis sirtalis? Peter could clarify it. |

The Snake on the picture is Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia and the common name is San Fransisco Gartersnake
I like the pictures like always but I have seen much better work from your hand sir. THe picture of the Crotalus oreganus is out focus on the most important part off the picture.
The redspitting cobra Naja pallida what a greatpicture, I have never seen a picture like that before
cheers

i agree, Fabian - at least one o the best.
Remember it's a neonate - see the spaghnum moss in front!
Some day i'll purchase a very good macro lens - even if i won't reach Guenters level then - but with my "Flaschenböden" (german word for cheap lenses) i cannot even think about pictures like this.
Best regards peter _________________ Cobras - breathtaking beauties!

| Thanks, yes it is a really small snake - and one of the most impressive coloured, I've seen so far. But I have to admit that such a shot is always also a bit of a lucky punch. Snakes are not models, they won't react on commands - oh well, even girls won't do that as often as I liked it |

A Sigma 8mm on a full format Canon 5D II. Crazy with 180 degrees viewing angle. |
