PostSubject: Chlorechis macros   Wed 15 Dec - 21:31

My camera has been acting up and wouldn't accept any of my photo cards for the past few months, so I haven't been able to get any photos of my new snakes. Finally, I got it working again and took some photos of the new critters. First up are a couple of macros of my new large chlorechis female. She simply froze for me and let me do whatever I wanted, so these are true 1:1 macros with no cropping done. I just had to hide behind the camera to stay safe!

More photos will follow as I have time to edit them.

Spectacular! What kind of camera/type of lens are you using?

Thanks guys. Luke, I use a Canon Rebel Xti with a Sigma 105mm macro lens for my macros. The lens makes more of a difference than the camera does, in my opinion.

Thanks Arjan. I was also thinking how small of a nostril that is, but they still breathe from them.

The nitschei photos didn't come out as well. I lost a lot of the color when I went for a quicker shutter speed. Oh well, I'll share a couple anyway.

PostSubject: Re: Chlorechis macros   Mon 20 Dec - 1:59

Thanks Walter, I appreciate it. Chlorechis are typically one of the more laid back species of Atheris. There are exceptions to this generalization, but mine are usually much more laid back than squamigera and especially ceratophora. They are typically less excitable in all aspects (less likely to flee quickly), which I think is pretty cool.
