Maybe a little bit too dark in my opinion.
Especially the black field, maybe in the middle grey and at the sides black is better to read?

Just one more of the numerous forums entering the www every day - this one focused mainly on venomous, almost like VenomLand.

I really cannot understand that - please explain.........

They want to be admins of their OWN forum. Silly, but this is my explanation. Same as in photography ...

Why are you suggesting that Günter? There are now two people who asked why they set up this forum so why not wait untill they awnser instead of suggesting "silly" things?

Indeed. Perhaps we should wait and see how informative the 'Reptile Genectics and Hybridisation' and 'I Was Bitten' Forums on this new site will be. Sincerely, Jon Davidson .

Or call it experience, if You want to.
No reason to get upset.

It's not the purpose of a discussion board like VenomLand to give assistance in starting new and similarly forums.
I don't like to see people trying to entice members from here - that's just a bit barefaced in my opinion.

Peter

Why is that Peter? Don't think they are a threat for Venomland and hijack a lot of members from here. But we, venomous snake keepers, are a small community and all good initiatives should be supported. But as far as I have seen they do not bring something new, so I was wondering why they set up this forum? Maybe they have some great ideas?

Hello Gentlemen,
I personaly think its not realy necessary to have one more forum. How many have you seen already, and where are they? So the web will regulate this side. The other point is,
this way of starting. Advertisment for free, and beeing upset if not everyone is happy with it?
Anyway i wish you luck for your startup.

Yes, Stefan, but i cannot see that as a reason to create additional forums and to distribute members and informations on more and more sites - in my opinion it's a reason to stay with a few, established forums.

It seems to me that there is a problem between south african forum members - how comes it otherwise that a few of'em create a new, very similar board while having a another, already well established forum (with some of the team members of the new site)?

Or is Guenter right with his statement?

I'm really not very happy about these trends.....

regards
Peter

I would think the simplest thing to do would be to have a look at the new forum. If you don't like it ... don't patronize it. If you do like it ... well, so be it. Much better than just pissing and moaning about "another forum"

Well, Scotty, you might be right with the first part of your statement.

But if some members here discuss the phenomenon of a rapidly increasing number of forums (which will just produce loosers, no winners at long sight, at least in my opinion), that should be okay and tolerated.

To name factual postings of other members not mainly about this new forum, but about the problem of more and more discussion boards in general as "pissing and moaning" could easily be justified as a sign of disrespect against other opinions in my eyes.

Best regards
Peter

Gentlemen, please! I meant no disrespect to the concerned parties. My point is simply that someone has started up a new forum ... so what! Either support it or don't support it, but why waste time complaining about it? "VenomLand" is a great site and I'm sure it will continue to be so in the future.

These things will come and go, as they have in the past. What determines the success of the forum are the quality of the members, and in particular the Administrators.

If you are a youngster that wants to start your own forum, clearly for no other reason than wanting to have your own forum (lets be realistic here, that is the reason). Then you have a 99% chance of the forum failing.

The venomous community is so small worldwide that having more than two or three forums is already too much in my opinion.

There is little merit in arguing about it though (although if they advertise on a forum with conflicting interests then these are the kind of responses they must expect). Let it follow its course.

Correct. There is a history regarding this with the reptile community in SA.

i wish everybody good luck... we started VenomLand as well earlier. my point back then was the disrespectful language folks had and the lack of professionalism. also back then, we had tons and tons of boards worldwide. VenomLand closed that gap, thats why we succeeded and others have failed to do so...

i also dont mind if someone let us know about their new boards..

I totally agree with you Mario...

When a new forum starts I won't be screaming out "woohoo, this is my new favourite website!" so I was wondering why they came up with it. Couldn't find something really interesting for me when I gave it a look. Unfortunatly the guys from this new message board didn't reply at my message so I am still wondering why they came up with it? Maybe they have a good vision and close a gap like Venomland once did?

Too bad Günter came up with his blahblah about "silly, statements, experience and other crap". He even dares to talk about disrespect Shocked I think his posts in this topic are a good example of disrespect...

Stefan You should read it again and cite me correctly if You cite me.

I answered an general question:

"I don't understand why so much people try to set up a new forum when there are enough around?
"
why people create new forums when there are already some similar existing with the general statement that they maybe want to be Admins and that this is a silly approach.
That was not a classification for the thread openers but an general statement and if You still don't get that, I can't help You.

PostSubject: Re: New site...   Wed 26 Jan - 7:25

Good day everyone...

I am sorry for keeping you guy's waiting on your questions etc.(I've been away and had very limited access to the net).

First of all-I am sorry if I stepped on some toes by opening this topic here.

The reason for us creating this new forum is simply to open up(broaden) the world of reptiles and other animals to the public(internet users).

The site is still very young and needs a lot of work but hopefully it will one day be great(like venomland etc.).I am working on it(not done yet) to create new/innovative forums(for lack of a better word-sister sites with a new look and format) not only dedicated to reptiles but also other animals, plants and even microorganisms. It will take some time but please be patient and you might just end up enjoying the site when it's finished and no longer a "freeforum".Hopefully the above plan will make it different from the many other forums currently running.

Thanks for all the good and not so good replies guy's !
I respect all your comments and hope to prove some wrong(change views) in the future.

If you have any other questions please feel free to ask and any suggestions will always be welcome.

Thanks

Regards
Louis.
