The white markings is nice on this. I think its no problem with bare hands if you get it out from its enclosure. But if snake like this or almost anyone else is in the enclosure and you must take it out its better to use hooks. Of course they are more in action at night.

With mine`s I usually that they from the enclosure with some hook and in hand sometimes I get bitted and when the lights turn down, some of they only passing in from of their enclosure they strike the glass. But some are really tame too
