| Hi everyone, I know that there are quite a lot of Atheris fans on this forum so I'd like to share a few photos of the first individuals of this genus in my collection. They are 1.1. Atheris squamigera C.B. 2009 which I just bought about a week ago. I think they are fantastic little snakes. For the moment I keep them together and it doesn't seem to be a problem. The male is quite arboreal but the female spends 99% of the time on the ground, so far. They've presented mating behavior during the last weeks they were with the previous owner as well as during the first night after they arrived at my place. Fingers crossed... I know the photos are not great but I still hope you enjoy them: Male: Female: |

| Congratulations, Alexandru! The pair is beautiful and it's great that they have already bred for you. My advice would be to separate them as soon as you can. Gravid females can be very testy and may harm the males. Also, she may be submissive to the male and not take the best basking spot (why she is on the ground all the time, maybe), which is not good for her if she is gravid. She needs the best basking spot possible right now. Good luck with them and having babies! |
