PostSubject: New guy from France   Mon 3 Oct - 7:08

Hi all,

So let's introduce myself and explain a bit more who I am!
My name's Seb, I'm a french cop and I've been keepin' & breeding snakes and T's for almost 12 years now.
I started with T's about 12 years ago and I specialized in species as ones from Africa and Asia. I had almost 350 T's in my bedroom which was not really a bedroom finally as I only had my bed, a desk and a chair in it (except my T's of course... lol).
After something like 4-5 years I decided to get rid of my whole collection as I got bored by Tarentulas and centipedes. Personnal feeling in fact!
At the same time, I started having snakes and I fell in love with colubrids especially.
After a while I had something like 30 snakes at home and my whole bedroom became totally dedicated to my passion.
I went then to the Hamm show a long time ago as I can't remember well when it happened and a few weeks before that I met a german guy who's become one of my best friend as Thorsten Schweer who lives between Osnabrück and Bremen. Finally I went to his home and we spent the whole day and night before the show talking and manipulating his snakes especially venomous ones as he had really many of them.
I went back home with a Boiga dendrophila dendrophila, Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix and a eyelash viper.
I found that I especially liked the pitvipers and the Boiga genus and decided to docus on them and also on Atheris species.
Well then I decided to call my vet center and tell them what I had at home and ask them the way to keep them the best way, I mean legally...
Then I had a period of a few years I had personal problems and could keep on having this kind of snakes so I decided I had to give them to someone who may keep them better than I as my snakes welfare is really more important to me than my personal wishes.

So now that I bought a new house "near by" Paris with a 40 m2 cellar I want to come back to the venomous side the best way I can and that's why I come to this board that another german guy I've been talking a lot to (his name's Jörg) told me about a quite long time ago.

Hope my introduction won't be too boring for you guys! Embarassed

See ya' soon mates!

Hello Seb,
welcome here and enjoy it.

I can understnd the point about the Tarantulas, I keep also some of them. But at daytime, I see only empty Vivarians. When i came at nighttime to spray my pitvipers, the Tarantuals are out, but only in the nearst second the are all hidden. Not that I like.
Snakes are allways better to observe...
Centipides are very intressting, but my wife has very very much fear about them. She knows them from several trips to Asia, and sometimes she runs away ;-)

Thanx all!
Yeah I still really enjoy centipedes that are a lot of fun to keep but harder to breed...
I've been studying them a lot and also Bothrops lanceolatus and French West Indies parentales when I lived there for several years...
I still go hunting them when I go back there to my parents' house...

Now my goal is to get the French permit for venomous keeping...
I'm looking for some cyanea and dendrophila CB's tou start back softly! LOL

Hi all and thanx!
To Johannes, yes at the moment I'Veoh got better conditions to pass the permit but anyway it sucks a lot as my department's authorities really seem to be venomous reluctant... Mad
But whatever, I wanna make my come back slowly and (re)start with "cool" species as schlegelli and Boiga species...
Therefore I'm lookin' for these species but first cyanea and dendrophila sp. first of all then I'm contact the vet service and tell them what I have and plan to get and prepare my CDC.
So if some French guys May accept to get in contact with me it'd be really cool then!!! drunken

Thanx Peter!
In fact I'm a French Police Officer... and yes in my department the veterinary services direction seems to be very reluctant concerning venomous keeping... :'(
We'll see when my snake room will be finished what they finally think about it

At the moment I have à few personal lettered from German and American breeders attesting that I'm "not a rookie" in venomous keeping and breeding, hope it'll help

Hi, those weird american cops, ;-) , calls all police officers as LEO´s ... at least in every forum where I have met them. So we both are parts of biiig LEO family ... and I´m a Finnish police officer (since 1978 - still a streetcop ... genuine ancient relic)
