PostSubject: Re: Some of my African cobras :)    Sat 8 Oct - 3:16

@Chaim: yes he is a stunner! Im looking after a female to him then i hope breed some nice niveas Smile

I can say this..Nigricollis is the most difficult naja i have work whit as so far. He is never calm but he has not spitt so mutch yet if you dont mess whit him to mutch of course. And about the spitting right now he is not so big ( 50-60cm ) so i think when he is little bigger he probably will spitting mutch more ore he will calm down and never spitting. So if you like a naja with attitude Nigricollis is one of them. But this is just what i think and from my own experience.

Awesome snakes! All the venomous that I keep are African elapids. They're by far my favorites. -Jamie

I had 4 adults, still have one and they were pretty docile too. I raised them from tiny CB. They were pretty nervous the first year though. My adults almost never spat, not even once a year.

Edit; A mate of mine had some 2 meter WC animals yeeeaaars ago but those animals were scary, lightning fast and really nervous. If you want to develope an allergy for venom, buy an adult WC Naja nigricollis. Shocked

Cheers, Ro.

The Cape cobra is really awesome, I like that speckling a lot. Do you have pictures of its terrarium, Sebastian?

African cobras are my favourite among elapids...

What nice animals you have there Sebastian, really like the speckled nivea & of course that rinkhal with black & yellow being my favourite colours. Cages look great, what size are they & what size do these African elapids attain? Damn shame we can't keep these in Australia so will have to do with keeping aussie elapids.

Interesting... Are they potted or just planted in the substrate? The resulting effect is very, very natural, I like it. I am trying do the same thing with these dried weeds you can find in plant shops... But of course the effect is not so natural.
