Here are three animals caught in Krabi, Thailand, in November 2007. These were all caught around the same area, a large open field that used to be a Banana plantation, right on the outskirts of Phanom Bencha national park.

A juvenile, only around 6 inches in length



A sub-adult



An adult that had recently taken a large meal (as can be seen from the photo!)



My friend searching the plantation



All animals were caught in the early evening, just as it was getting dark.

How readily available are these animals in Europe? I dont know of any private keeprs in the UK.

I have heard of a few breeders in Europe, so they should be available.

Near Hamburg a Sanke-Farm is breeding only this snakes for medicines...

... and in southern Germany (Ludwigshafen) there is at least one more. Already mentioned in Gloyd & Conant (1990)"snakes of the Agkistrodon-complex".
