Hello everyone,

Very impressed with this site so far! Very Happy

I do not keep snakes but am looking forward to using this site as a source of information and contacts, and also to share understanding, experiences and photography. I have been snake catching in Namibia, South Africa (inc. a few stays at Khamai Reptile Centre), and bits of Europe. I plan to visit Sri Lanka next year and also spend a few months volunteering with The Gerry Martin Project in India, before postgraduate research...

Cheers,
John

Hi and welcome John,
you are right, here is a good source to collect information from all over the world and I hope you will suppoprt us with nice shots too. Like the one in your avatar. It looks like an H. hypnale from India to me.

But, with this name, I think in the future, when you dicide to keep a venomous, you has to keep a Bitis worthingtoni ;-)

Have fun!

Thanks Peter and Ro! And yes, it is indeed H. hypnale, though I must confess to having pinched the photo from Ashok Captain and Rom Whitaker's fieldguide Laughing I have not been to India yet, but am going next year and this little beauty it high on the hit-list!!! As is B. worthingtoni when I make it to East Africa... Very Happy
