| Hi, I'm new here, but I will be starting of immediatly with a thread showing of some of my pictures of venomous snakes..  I live in Norway, so I don't encounter to many snakes - much fewer venomous ones. (For those not aware, it's illegal to keep reptiles in Norway - only zoos get to keep them, and they don't get to keep venomous reptiles) But there are a few in Norway keeping venomous, and sometimes I travel a bit outside Norway to get som shots of venomous snakes. | I use two cameras, the Nikon D3 and Nikon D700
On these shots I've used the Sigma 150mm f/2.8 HSM Macro, and on some of them togetger with a 1.4 converter |

| very nice
The 150 sigma seem to be very sharp, I use a 105 micro nikkor with a DX camera (nikon D90). What is your favorite lightning system ? |

| For lighting I use different methods - varieing on conditions and possibilities.
From two macroflashes mounted on the lens (Nikon R1C1), 1 or 2 external flash units (SB 700 and SB 900) triggered wirelessly, or even large studio lamps. I always use diffusers/soft boxes on my flashes.
That said, what I most often use lately is one or two external flashes - always of camera.. |

I use two SB600 with softboxes, and sometimes a circular flash around the lens that work fine but you have to be very close from the snake...

| Excellent pictures Thor. I truly hope that you in a near future will be able to take photos of friends LEGAL hots in Norway. But I guess its a long way there...
