PostSubject: taxonomic changing in asian pitvipers   Mon 14 Nov - 17:21

Does anyone have knowledge about a new genus/subgenus concept in asian pitviper?
Cryptelytrops back to Trimeresurus?
New subgenera concept? (per example: Trimeresurus (Craspidocephalus) puniceus)
Any information about these changings welcomme!
As far as i know a 2011 paper by David et al. might be important in his case.
Does anyone have a pdf of the full paper?
Thank you
regards
Peter

indeed - in praise of subgenera (like Wallach, Wüster & Broadley entitled their paper about the taxonomical status of cobras of the genus Naja (2009))

Asian Pitvipers of the former genus Trimeresurus, splitted into several genera by Malhotra & Thorpe (2004), have been merged to one giant genus Trimeresurus again, but splitted into 8 subgenera by David, Vogel & Dubois (2011):

subgenus Craspedocephalus
T. andalasensis
T. borneensis
T. brongersmai
T. gramineus
T. malabaricus
T. puniceus
T. strigatus
T. trigonocephalus
T. wiroti
subgenus Himalayophis
t. tibetanus
subgenus Parias
T. flavomaculatus
T. hageni
T. malcolmi
T. mcgregori
T. schultzei
T. sumatranus
subgenus Peltopelor
T. macrolepis
subgenus Popeia
T. barati
T. bunianus
T. fucatus
T. nebularis
T. popeiorum
T. sabahi
T. toba
subgenus Sinovipera
T. sichuanensis
subgenus Trimeresurus
T. albolabris
T. andersonii
T. cantori
T. cardamomensis
T. erythrurus
T. fasciatus
T. gracilis
T. honsonensis
T. insularis
T. kanburiensis
T. labialis
T. macrops
T. purpureomaculatus
T. rubeus
T. septentrionalis
T. venustus
subgenus Viridovipera
T. gumprechti
T. medoensis
T. stejnegeri
T. truongsonensis
T. vogeli
T. yunnanensis

Have fun!
oh, yes, i'm still looking for that paper........

regards
Peter

By the way, many thanks to Peter! Didn't have the time to read the whole paper yet - it's a hard read.

Yes, you are right Peter.
It is a hard to read one, of corse. In some facts I follow them, but I can´t follow the changings of the zoological code. I will still use the ,,old´´ one. Maby when I see, that they is accepted in by the majority of the following sientific papers, I think about.

@ Ralph: did you got it?
