I know that this isn't a very big story compared to the new laws in Austria (which is very sad) but at least it's a start!

I made my presentation of my 2 years of research to my town council yesterday. Here's the news article:

Nicely done Luke, at least you’re getting them thinking. I hope positive changes come because of your efforts!

Welcome on board, Luke!

Don´t look at your issue as being "small". (I know that this isn't a very big story compared to the new laws in Austria (which is very sad) but at least it's a start!) Things (= first problems) started smaller here too and turned out to be made bigger. You already got the ban for "exotic" animals, here in Austria certain politicians try to make one. But we are fighting - vigorously and diplomatically at the same time.

As I can see, you are fighting with the same means as we do. I hope you as well as we will have success,
Rainer

Thanks everyone for the support!

I know that big things start small, but this is really starting to pick up speed! I'm starting an organization of exotic animal keepers to meet, discuss husbandry, police ourselves and each other and fight for our priveleges to keep exotics responsibly.

This is just another project on my already very full plate!

So far I'm just using research and logical arguments to help change opinions... and it seems to be working. I'm also in touch with the politician in the province who wanted to propose legislation to ban all dangerous exotics.

I don't get how people don't understand that if you ban something without allowing keepers to get a license legally, then you drive the hobby underground and make it more dangerous for everyone.

There will be many more battles to come.
