| I am speechless and realy angry I think that these will never end until the last animal from wildernes that brings profit is gone. Some people just dont deserve to live. Albert. |

| a lot of reptiles are smuggled in france we have a lot of spécialists, vipera aspis, vipera seoanei, vipera aspis zinnickeri, vipera ursini, even in french guiana a lot of french people smuggles animals like bothriopsis bilineata in particular...it's part of the game apparently...very sad to know, actually there is no authorized breeder in french guyana, but i'm suprised to see french guianean snakes offers, on various sites! a lot of breeder smuggles a lot of snakes from their own country...it's too sad! it's not surprising that people that doesn't respect their own fauna, smuggles animals from other countries! |

| Just a note! In sweden a ban on wildcaught animals have been in effect for ca 15years! Even from the EC, so WC animals at the snake shows are not allowed to bring to sweden! We need a statement from the breeder that the animal is infact CB. ofcourse there are people saying its CB and thats sad! reg Mats |

Hi Mats,
several times I've correctly(!) declared my captive bred herps as just this for buyers from Sweden. But I would guess it wouldn't matter a "bad guy" to do so for wildcaught animals. So in the end, what's worth it? Not much more than the paper it is written on, I would suspect.
Best
Peter

| By the way, even if forbidden to do so in Sweden, I wouldn't convict (legal) keeping and dealing with wildcaught animals in general!

| Peter! in Cites animals its harder to fake WC to CB so its effective for protected spieces in one way and that i think is good! But for other non cites its a matter of trust! and people who sell WC as CB will very soon be sorted out and will not have many people to sell to! reg Mats |

it is not my intention to blame anybody - neither potential buyer nor seller. But it's easy to imagine that it might be at least as interesting for swedish herpetoculturists purchasing herps for their collections to have their declared as "captive bred", as for the seller. The first need them to be "cb", just to be allowed to keep them at home - the second ones might sell their wildcaught animals to somebody else.
Kind regards
Peter |

| Hi peter! really dont know what you mean. All I was saying from the beginning, is that we have this law in Sweden!
If that law was the same in the whole EC a lot of this smuggling would not excist, or be so much harder.
Im not against a certain amount of well controlled import from reliable sources to be able to get new blood to the hobby. So I dont think we are so far apart in this matter. reg Mats |

| yes its a serious matter through out the globe.snake smuggling, snake killing for their skin, fangs and meat, bones.here in India still snakes are poached and smuggled in the neighbouring countries.but thanks to Herpetologist Rom Whitaker that he create a Snake trust and force to stop people from snake killing, trading, smuggling etc.In southern India saw scale vipers, cobras and russel's vipers were killed for skin and meat, but now he have engaged those person in snake venom harvesting and conservation and providing education to local tribes not to kill, poach, smuggle snakes but to conserve them for medical purpose. Thanks to Rom and his tusk force. |
