Hello Gustav,

this is obviously not A. c. contortrix You may be right about laticinctus, if you can post a photo of the sides or belly of this specimen it can be confirmed whether it is one or a A. c. pictigaster or some hybrid between these 2.

No matter what it is, I would not breed it to your A. c. c. (sounds like you are sure about the ssp.).

Regards,
Rainer

Thank you very much for the answer, unfortunately this are the only pics that the seller sent to me, and yes I`m sure mine is a southern here are some pictures.

so it is not recommended to cross breed this 2 subspecies? or any other??

Hello Gustav,

first the answer to your question: I would not crossbreed different subspecies of any species.

From your photos I would say you have a Northern Copperhead (A. contortrix mokasen) but sometimes A.c.c. and A.c. mok. are difficult to distinguish.

Cheers,
Rainer

I would say the first pictures are more than likely laticinctus, and that the last pictures show a Southern copperhead, but I agree with everything Rainer has said. I am a firm believer in NOT crossing subspecies'.
