From our experience roughly 70% will take prekilled pinkies as their first food....this is for the Chinese locality.

How awesome!
Milan, the one of Yours has an awesome head-profile, while the one that Tomas owns has just incredible eyes... Would love to see these features together in one snake.
Cheers,
MP

I have just received an adult pair of these animals and have found them to be difficult feeders.
Do they show a preference to any specific food items before going onto mice?
They don't respond well to tease feeding and are quite reluctant to strike.

any tips?

Late answer, but hey..
Separate them to their own (small) enclosures with right temp and humidity. Some of mine prefere young live gerbils.

I'm looking for the correct numbers of scales in V. stejnegeri, I want to check if one of mine really is V. stejnegeri. Or might that not be a good method within Trimerusurus s. l.?
(by the way, the spelling of stejnegeri is wrong in this sub-forum)

Best regards.

Thanks! Smile

Cocos hummus (coir?) as substrate. A Zamioculcas zamiifolia to the left and a Jucca palm (Yucca elephantipes) on the right (also on pic no. 2 wich the female climbs on). Dead twigs and dead leavs from the woods.. nothing fancy Wink

I went on a PDF hunt to find what the right amount of scales V. stejnegeri should have.. no luck.
Go figure, I found it on wikipedia rabbit

Scalation: dorsal scales in 21 longitudinal rows at midbody. 9-11 upper labials, of which the first are separated from nasal scales by a distinct suture. The supraoculars are single, narrow, and sometimes divided by a transverse suture. There are 11-16 scales in a line between the supraoculars. The ventrals number 150-174 and the subcaudals 54-77, all paired.[5]

My results:
Dorsal 21
upper labials 10
subcaudals 65 - all paired.
Ventral 150
Scales in line between supraoculars - ?

So I guess I can be kinda sure that she is a V. stejnegeri. First time counting scales, feeling very geeky Razz

And the angry bi***
